Complete Feature Reference
A full reference for every feature across the Duty, Schedule, and Logbook tabs — built for airline pilots who need to stay current, legal, and organized.
The Duty tab steps you through your operational day in four sequential modes: Reserve → Assignment → Trip → FDP. The mode stepper at the top shows where you are and lets you jump ahead.
A live countdown timer shows time remaining in your current reserve window. The reserve type badge (LC, SC, or AS) displays in the appropriate color — green for Long Call, yellow for Short Call, orange for Airport Standby.
As your reserve window progresses, the app automatically tracks which add-pay threshold has been crossed. When you receive a callout, your applicable add-pay tier is shown immediately based on elapsed time — no manual calculation needed.
Record your departure airport (quick-select from saved airports), callout time, and report time. The app auto-detects which add-pay tier applies and displays the amount. Confirm or override the add-pay and tap "Build trip" to open the trip builder, or import from your existing schedule.
Shows your current trip with trip number, report time, departure airport, and all legs for today. Once past your report time, tap "Start FDP" to begin the flight duty period clock.
A live countdown to your legal Flight Duty Period limit. The timer starts at your report time. Color shifts amber at 80% used and red at 95%.
A full month calendar with colored dot indicators on each day. Purple dots mark trips. Green dots mark reserve days. Navigate between months with the arrow buttons. Tap any date to see what's scheduled and add new items for that day.
Build complete trips with multiple legs. Each trip includes:
Trips span multiple calendar days automatically. The "Add leg" button shows validation feedback and auto-advances the departure airport from the previous leg's arrival.
Schedule reserve days with type (Long Call, Short Call, Airport Standby), start time, and auto-calculated end time based on your configured reserve type duration. The reserve window drives the Duty tab countdown and Live Activity.
Log days as Training, Vacation, Sick, Union Business, Company Business, Military, Jury Duty, or Personal. Events appear on the calendar and can be tagged to any date.
Add free-text notes with a title and optional details to any date — appointments, family events, reminders, or anything you want visible alongside your flying schedule.
Paste your schedule text (from a crew portal email or export) directly into the app. The importer parses trip numbers, dates, flight numbers, report times, and legs automatically. On iOS, OCR camera capture is also supported — photograph your printed or on-screen schedule.
Map your airline's proprietary schedule codes (e.g. "OFD", "TR1") to standard event types so imported schedules parse correctly. Configured in Settings → Schedule Codes.
Always-visible summary cards at the top of the logbook showing Total Time, PIC, Night, and IMC across all entries.
Progress bars showing your current usage against the two primary Part 117 flight time limits:
Color-coded: green below 80%, amber 80–95%, red above 95%.
Three currency requirements tracked automatically from your logged entries:
Each shows current count, required count, and days until expiry. Status dot turns red when expired, amber within 30 days.
Every logged flight includes:
Entries imported from schedule automatically come in as "needs review." A dot indicator appears on each unreviewed entry and a count shows at the top of the logbook. Tap an entry to expand and mark it reviewed after verifying times.
Add any flight manually via the + button. All fields are available including approach logging with a type picker.
Paste CSV or tab-delimited text data directly in-app. Standard logbook export formats are supported with automatic column mapping. A live preview shows how many entries were detected before committing.
Analytics view accessible via the "Snapshot →" link under Recent Entries. Shows breakdowns by time period, role, aircraft type, and other dimensions to understand your flying patterns.
Set your name, airline, and employee ID. Your name appears in exported documents and confirmation screens.
Switch between Reserve and Line Holder to match your current bid status. Drives badge labels, default Duty tab state, and color accents throughout the app.
Select the aircraft you're certified on from a searchable list covering Boeing (717–787), Airbus (A319–A350), and regional aircraft (CRJ, E-jet, Dash 8, ATR). Saved types appear as quick-select chips when logging flights in the logbook.
Configure each reserve type (Long Call, Short Call, Airport Standby) with duration in hours and legal callout window. These values drive the Duty tab countdown, add-pay detection, and Live Activity.
Define up to 4 callout thresholds, each specifying time into reserve and corresponding add-pay amount. The Duty tab auto-detects the applicable tier at callout time — no calculator needed.
Save your most-used airport codes for quick-select throughout trip building and assignment logging.
Save hotel name, address, phone, and shuttle info by airport code. Saved hotels auto-suggest when building trip layovers.
Map your airline's proprietary codes (e.g. "OFD" → Off, "TR1" → Training) to standard event types. Used when importing schedule text so the parser understands your airline's abbreviations.
Enter your last flight physical date, medical class, and date of birth. CrewAlert calculates your FAA expiry automatically:
A push notification fires 30 days before expiry. Expiry status displays in the Settings row — green when valid, amber within 30 days, red when expired.
Configure reserve start alerts, trip report time alarms, and the pre-report countdown window (options: 60m, 2h, 3h, 4h, 6h, 12h before report).
Toggle between Dark cockpit theme (default — deep navy background) and Light mode. Changes apply immediately throughout the app.
Enable or disable Live Activities. When enabled, reserve countdowns and trip report countdowns appear on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island without opening the app.
When a reserve window is active, a Live Activity appears on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island showing the countdown to reserve window end. Your callout thresholds are displayed inline — no need to open the app.
When approaching a trip report time, the Live Activity shows the countdown to report with your trip number, flight number, and departure airport. Lock screen and Dynamic Island both update live.
A notification fires when your reserve window begins, even if the app is closed. Backed by the Crew Alert push server which tracks your registered reserve days and sends the notification at the configured start time.
A notification fires at your configurable interval before trip report time (default: 2 hours). Helps you prepare without checking the app constantly.
A time-sensitive notification fires 30 days before your medical certificate expires, giving you time to schedule your next flight physical.
On Android, a persistent foreground notification shows a live countdown to your reserve window end or trip report time — the equivalent of iOS Live Activities. Appears in the notification shade and updates in real time.
CrewAlert includes a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. No charge until the trial ends. Cancel any time before the trial ends and you won't be billed.
After the trial, choose from three plans:
Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Billed via App Store — manage or cancel in your Apple ID account settings.
If you reinstall the app or switch devices, tap "Restore purchases" on the subscription screen to re-activate your existing subscription without being charged again.
Since Android does not have Dynamic Island or iOS Live Activities, CrewAlert uses a persistent foreground notification with a live countdown timer — visible in your notification shade and on the lock screen without opening the app.
